Well the streak was bound to end eventually, and it sure did last night. Running into a hot goalie is bound to happen from time to time though, so I’ll try not to take it too personally.

A full slate of NHL games tonight gives me a lot to choose from, and while I’m going to stay in the sport, I’m going to switch gears a little bit

Game #17 Recap: Most players are bad, coaching staff shows they have no answer as Hurricanes score six straight to win 7-3 - The Cannon

The Pick:
Columbus Blue Jackets at Carolina Hurricanes – 7:00 PM ET
Hurricanes -1.5 (1.87 Odds Payout)

The Reason:
Carolina are on a heater; both in their last ten, and on home ice. going 8-1-1 in their last ten games and 11-3-1 on home ice thus far. On the other side, the Blue Jackets are struggling, going 3-6-1 in their last ten and 5-11 on the road.

On top of that, the goaltender disparity is just as large as of late. Hurricanes goaltender Frederik Andersen has allowed just 1.8 goals-against on average in his last five starts, posting a .925 save percentage in the process. Meanwhile, Elvis Merzlikins for the Blue Jackets has allowed 3.8 goals per game in the same time frame with just an .856 save percentage.

I like the Hurricanes on home ice to take this one.
