Week 5 of the College Football season gives us hands-down the best slate of games that we’ve seen thus far in 2021. And with the craziness that’s ensued over the past weeks, the big matchups on Saturday will determine the fate of a number of teams seasons. The top matchups featuring ranked teams include: #8 Arkansas taking on #2 Georgia, #7 Cincinnati against #9 Notre Dame, and #12 Ole Miss squaring off against top-ranked Alabama.

This week I’ll be focusing my bets on the following games:
– Arkansas vs Georgia
– Cincinnati vs Notre Dame
– Auburn vs LSU
– Fresno State vs Hawaii

But first, some big moves were made amongst the ranked teams over the last week. Penn State moved inside the top-five, Arkansas has jumped all the way up to 8th, and four previously unranked teams made their way inside the top 25. On the flip side, both Texas A&M and Clemson saw their rankings drop; A&M going from 7th to 15th, and Clemson dropping 16 spots from 9th to 25th after their loss.

GAME #1 – Arkansas Razorbacks at Georgia Bulldogs – 12:00 PM EST
Betting Lines: Georgia -17, Over/Under 50
My Pick: Arkansas +17

– Georgia has been getting a lot of praise after defeating Clemson in Week 1, but we’re now seeing that Clemson isn’t a very good team. Their other three wins came against much weaker opponents, so this will be a big prove it game for the Bulldogs
– Georgia QB JT Daniels dealing with lat injury, expected to start
– Arkansas have been one of the early surprises of the season, handily knocking off two ranked teams (#15 Texas, #7 Texas A&M). This is their second of four-straight games vs ranked opponents
– Most likely Georgia will win this game, but Arkansas have been a feisty opponent thus far this season and I look for that to continue. 17 points is just too much to give a good team

GAME #2 – Cincinnati Bearcats at Notre Dame Fighting Irish – 2:30 PM EST
Betting Lines: CIN -2, Over/Under 50.5
My Pick: Notre Dame +2

– With their win last weekend, Notre Dame Head Coach Brian Kelly surpassed Knute Rockne for most wins all-time at Notre Dame with 106
– Both teams come in undefeated on the season, but have only played one ranked opponent between them (Notre Dame vs #18 Wisconsin)
– These two teams look (at least on paper) to be a good matchup for one another. The difference could be their experience in close games, and Brian Kelly has an incredible record in one-score games in his time with Notre Dame.
– Realistically whether the Fighting Irish can replicate the strong defensive performance from last week will be the deciding factor not only in this game, but in their season as it progresses. So I see this as a measuring stick game for them, and despite being underdogs I like ND to squeak out a close win

GAME #3 – Auburn Tigers at LSU Tigers – 9:00 PM EST
Betting Lines: LSU -3, Over/Under 55.5
My Pick: Auburn +3

– Tigers vs Tigers – which will reign supreme?
– Auburn undecided on starting Nix or Finley at QB
– Both QB’s have protected the ball very well so far this season – Will that trend continue if one of them gets pressured and/or sacked multiple times?
– LSU’s rushing game has been basically non-existent
– I just think Auburn stacks up better on both sides of the ball and have more explosive playmakers on offense. The margins aren’t huge and neither team is particularly good this season, so this is one of those games that wouldn’t be surprising to see go either way, especially with the rivalry between them. Take the +3

GAME #4 – Fresno State Bulldogs at Hawaii Rainbow Warriors – 11:00 PM EST
Betting Lines: Fresno -10, Over/Under 64
My Pick: Fresno State -10, OVER 64

– After watching the performance Jake Haener put on against UCLA, I have to ride with him and this team. That was one of the guttiest, most impressive displays of playing through an injury that I can remember ever seeing
– The numbers really speak for themselves in this one – Fresno have the better record, the better QB, the better offense, and their Defense has allowed a lot less yards and points than Hawaii’s. I generally dont like to take double-digit favourites on the road, but I think Fresno State is going to blow them out and put up a ton of points

– Arkansas +17
– Notre Dame +2
– Auburn +3
– Fresno State -10
– Fresno State/Hawaii OVER 64

– Arkansas vs Georgia
– Arkansas Moneyline pays 7.2/1
