If there is one place I’ve played golf this year that I’d most like to be a member at, this it. Located in Friday Harbor Resort in Innisfil, The Nest is only a few years old; but you’d never know from playing it.

Right from the start of the day the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The clubhouse, driving range and putting green are pristine, and once you get to your golf cart you’re given a yardage book and are on your way. The carts themselves not only have a GPS system and are extremely comfortable, but they have also wisely added a bunker rake at the back of each cart. With players unable to rake bunkers (due to COVID) at every other course I’ve played this year, this was a simple but genius idea that I hope to see adapted industry wide. As for the course, each hole is nicely framed by rough, fescue and the fairways all being different shades of green. The best parts though are the bunkers and the greens.  The white sand is something you’d expect to see at a place like Augusta, and the way the bunkers are cut into the landscape makes them both aesthetically pleasing and ideal for the golfer. As for the greens, they are fast and smooth, but deceptively undulating and require a lot of strategy to put your ball in the correct tier. Another cool thing is that the majority of the course is pretty wide open, but the final few holes play through a tree-laden horseshoe that adds a nice change and adds some feel to the finishing stretch. Just an enjoyable golf course from start to finish
