It’s officially been over a calendar year since we’ve seen Major Championship golf (Open Championship – July 21st, 2019 to be exact) so I think I speak for everyone when I say we’re long overdue for the crowning of a major winner.

So here we go. The Tour has headed out to the West Coast this week where they’ll tee it up at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco. There are a bevy of story lines in play this week, but none larger than Brooks (aka Blake) Koepka going for an absurd third-straight PGA Championship. Aside from that: Jordan Spieth will be looking to complete the Career Grand Slam, Tiger will look to get one major closer to Jack Nicklaus and tie him for most PGA Championship career titles (5), and players on the FedEx Cup bubble will be under even more pressure this week to get into the playoffs with only one event left in the regular season after Sunday’s final round.

As for TPC Harding Park, we’ve certainly seen our fair share of it over the years in different PGA Tour events, but with the fairways being narrowed and the rough at peak length, it should play differently than we’ve seen in the past. The setup will favor those who can hit fairways (regardless of length) and as usual, those that putt it better than nearly everyone else. In the past this course has also favoured top-ranked golfers (Rory and Tiger both winning as #1 ranked players in the world here) so hopefully that trend continues and we get some quality golf down the stretch on Sunday evening.
