What a course. This one goes right to the top of the list of places I’ve reviewed. From the moment you pull into the parking lot until you put your clubs back in the trunk at the end of the day, every single aspect of golfing at Wooden Sticks is top notch; the clubhouse, the driving range, the staff, the putting green, the replica holes, the original holes… everything

Driving Range

In terms of layout there are 12 Replica holes from 7 Different courses across the world:
– Augusta National (12th & 13th “Amen Corner”)
– St Andrews (1st, 17th “Road Hole,” 18th)
– Pine Valley
– Carnoustie (Hogan’s Alley)
– Oakmont (Church Pew Bunkers)
– TPC Sawgrass (17th “Island Green)
– Troon (8th “Postage Stamp”)

The other 6 are original designs (some influenced by famous designers) and as great as the replica holes are, I actually think I preferred the original ones. The way they connect the entire course together is truly impressive, and the variety of types of holes keeps you thinking on every single tee box. That being said, teeing off to the island green of Sawgrass’ famous 17th or trying to reach 13 from Augusta in two, walking across the “Swilcan Bridge” from St Andrews etc, are a thrill no course I’ve ever played can duplicate.

Aside from just the layout, the course conditions and amenities were impeccable as well. With greens as fast and smooth as a freshly paved parking lot, tightly mown fairways and a variety of rough lengths and types of bunkers changing hole-to-hole, it will take your A-game to score well around here.

My advice: don’t give too much thought to your score and just enjoy each and every hole for what it is. As I said off the top, putting this course atop my list of rankings I’ve done so far was a no-brainer.  Courses like this really show the difference between a good track and a great one. Hat tip to everyone involved at Wooden Sticks; there is no golf experience (that I’ve seen) quite like the one offered here.

Just get a foursome together and make the drive out to Uxbridge to play Wooden Sticks. You won’t regret it.
