Last year
Dustin Johnson entered the final round with a six stroke lead and nine fingers firmly wrapped around the winners trophy. 18 birdie-less holes later he would walk away empty-handed; penciling 77 onto his scorecard. Down six shots with just eight holes to play, Justin Rose was both the benefactor of DJ’s surprising downfall and a master of the moment. With six birdies over that final eight hole stretch, including a near ace at the par-3 17th, Rose edged DJ handily. Dustin’s collapse tied Greg Norman (1996 Masters) and Sergio Garcia (2005 Wells Fargo Championship) for the biggest final round margin squandered in PGA Tour history. Justin Rose will return this week to defend his title, making his first appearance of the 2018-19 season and his return from action after being part of the victorious European Ryder Cup team at the end of September. Here’s hoping he wont bring that disgusting goatee with him (see below). Dustin will return as well, hoping to leave Shanghai with a better taste in his mouth this time around.

2016 — Hideki Matsuyama
2015 — Russell Knox
2014 — Bubba Watson
2013 — Dustin Johnson
