This week on the PGA tour: We have the Greenbrier Classic in West Virginia, at “The Old White TPC.”
Yep – The Old White. It’s actually named for the Old White Hotel that stood on the property for more than six decades, but yeah
The course is yet ANOTHER par-70, and another not long, but not short, track. In other words, only two Par-5’s this week.
The event was washed out last year after extensive, devastating floods in the area and the course oversaw a restoration process in the aftermath that included changing the routing plan and hole concepts. So the course itself looks quite a bit different.
In the past we’ve seen crazy low scores here, even a final-round 59 from Stuart Appleby in 2010 to capture the title, but what scores will we see this week? It Is a bit of a mystery, but I see it playing much harder than in some previous years (unless weather comes into play again and softens up the course). I predict a winning score between -10 and -13, with a cut line right around Even par.
Stats I think that will stand out this week are:
- SG: Approaching the Green
- Par-4 Scoring
- Scrambling
- Total Putting
- Good Drive %
- Bogey Avoidance
Below is my spreadsheet for the event, with players I think have a good enough combination of form, course history and/or Stats correlating to this course to be worthy of a selection on DraftKings
My favourites for the week are:
Top Tier: Bill Haas & Webb Simpson
Mid Tier: Kevin Streelman & Charles Howell III
Bargains: Stewart Cink, Chad Campbell & Ricky Barnes
Who do you like this week?
